Moore County Middle School’s Raiderettes dominated on both ends of the floor Thursday, Jan. 8, rolling to a 50-17 win against South Lincoln behind stifling defense and balanced scoring.
Addison Brandon led all scorers with 16 points, while Haven Hornaday added 11 points, including a 3-pointer.
Sadie Ivey chipped in six points, with Emmy Thomas scoring four. Ruby Ervin, Madison Hatfield, and Baylee Thomas each finished with three points – Hatfield and Thomas both knocking down shots from beyond the arc – while Maddie Goodwin and Lily Smith added two points apiece.
Defense set the tone early as MCMS held South Lincoln to single digits in every quarter, building a 19-5 lead after one period and extending the margin to 37-6 by halftime. The Raiderettes carried a 46-15 advantage into the fourth quarter and closed the game efficiently, converting 9 of 17 free-throw attempts.
Emaree Doan paced South Lincoln with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Moore County (12-1) returns to action Monday, Jan. 12, with a 6 p.m. tip at Highland Rim.
S. Lincoln 56, Raiders 22
Moore County Middle School’s Raiders dropped to 10-3 on the season Thursday with a 56-22 loss to South Lincoln, as the Eagles’ defense limited MCMS to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.
The Raiders were unable to get a player into double figures. Kurt Smith led the team with seven points, including a 3-pointer, while Finn Carney and Whit Sumners each added three points, with Carney connecting from beyond the arc.
Grayson Hill, Harrison Norman, Sawyer Boyce, and Laken Wade scored two points apiece, and Maddon Liles finished with one point.
South Lincoln set the tone early, jumping out to a 17-6 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 38-11 by halftime. MCMS trailed 54-17 entering the fourth quarter and went 4-for-9 from the free-throw line for the game.
Trent Dixon led all scorers with 25 points, knocking down three 3-pointers to pace the Eagles.
