MCHS gathers more than 100 Thanksgiving baskets

The Moore County High School Student Council on Friday handed out Thanksgiving bags to area families as the culmination of its annual Thanksgiving drive.
MCHS teacher Jonah Deal said the students crushed their goal of 68 bags, getting more than 100 and distributing over 70 on Friday. "We thank Peggy Gold and the Moore County Resource Center for their help in finding families in need," Deal said. "Missy Woodard also deserves recognition for providing hams for the baskets."
The remaining bags will be distributed to families in need through Partners for Healing, a free health clinic in Tullahoma that serves the working uninsured in Coffee, Franklin, and Moore counties.
The freshman class won the drive competition, gathering 33 baskets (and improving Mr. Caleb Poston’s record in Thanksgiving bag drives to 5-0).
The 7th graders came in 2nd with 27 (with Ms. Randa Prater’s record against Mr. Poston now 0-5).
The seniors gathered 20 baskets and finished third.
The juniors finished fourth, sophomores fifth, and 8th graders sixth.
