Releasing what no longer serves you

Path to purpose begins with letting go of what once felt right

Releasing what no longer serves you

Let’s talk about the quiet heartbreak of growth, of renewal. Not the kind that comes from failure or loss but the kind that comes when you realize something that once served you no longer does.

It might be a habit, a belief, a relationship, a role, a job, or even a random routine. It might be a version of you that once fit like a glove but now feels like a suit that’s two sizes too small.

We don’t talk enough about this part of growth. The part where you must let go of good things – familiar things – to make room for better things. Sometimes, the most courageous (and most difficult) decision you’ll ever make is to release what’s comfortable, what’s good, in pursuit of what’s calling you.

Professionally, that might mean walking away from a job, a business, or a strategy that once worked but no longer aligns, no longer feels … right.

Personally, it might mean creating boundaries where there were none or outgrowing environments or people that no longer reflect and support your values.

Spiritually? I think it’s the surrender. The humility of accepting that you don’t control everything. The trust that God is pruning you, not to punish, but to prepare.

In my own life, the most painful moments of release have always led to the most purposeful seasons of renewal. This has been true personally and professionally. Even when I couldn’t see the path in the moment. Even when it meant being misunderstood. Even when it hurt.

It’s in these moments that I’m reminded that we are not meant to carry everything and everyone forever. Some things (and some people) are only meant for a chapter, not the whole story.

Love, purpose, and faith are excellent anchors. In seasons of letting go, I’m learning to lean harder into them. They remind me of who I am when what’s around me is shifting, when I’m shifting. They ground me in the belief that what’s ahead is always greater than what’s behind.

This week, I want to ask you a tough question: What are you still holding onto that no longer serves your future?

Is it time to …
• Let go of the guilt and forgive yourself?
• Outgrow the old version of yourself?
• Release the role you’ve outgrown or outlived?
• Say goodbye to something that no longer aligns?
• Look in the mirror and sincerely tell the person looking back that you love them?

It’s OK to grieve what once was; give yourself the space and grace to feel that. But don’t let your attachment to the past rob you of the promise in front of you. To believe that release is not a loss but rather preparation.

This is your permission to let go! Trust the pruning. It’s been my experience that growth can often appear and feel like loss and struggle before it finally reveals itself as progress. Maybe you have experienced that, too. Even when you’re scared to let go, life has a way of clearing space for what’s next.

This week, make space for the next right thing: healing, alignment, and peace. #MindsetMonday
