VFD, Project Graduation present annual horse show

Riders and spectators will gather in Wiseman Park for the annual SSHBEA Horse Show, featuring 38 classes

The ring at Wiseman Park will serve a larger purpose next month, as riders and spectators gather for the Metro Moore County Volunteer Fire Department and MCHS Project Graduation Class of 2027 horse show.

The annual Spotted Saddle Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association (SSHBEA) Horse Show is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Wiseman Park in Lynchburg.

Admission is $5 per person. Children 6 and younger will be admitted free, and truck-and-trailer drivers also get in free.

The show will include 38 classes, ranging from stick horse and lead line to youth, amateur, open, spotted saddle horse, solid horse, pleasure, racking, and championship divisions. The evening will close with two championship classes: Solid Championship – Open and SSH Championship – Open.

Entry fees are free for Class 1, $15 for Class 2, $25 for Classes 3-36, and $40 for Classes 37-38. Classes 3–36 will pay $30 for first place, $25 for second, and $20 for third, with ribbons for fourth and fifth. The championship classes will pay $50 and an engraved barrel head for first place, $35 for second, $25 for third, and ribbons for fourth and fifth.

Sandy Harris will judge the show. Jeff Reed Photography will provide event photography, Jacob Byrom will serve as announcer, and Chase Williams will serve as organist.

All spotted saddle horse classes will follow SSHBEA rules. Solid horse classes require Western tack and attire.
