Decide once. Stop Renegotiating.
#MindsetMonday • 9:02 a.m. Jan. 5, 2026
By Jan. 5, most people aren’t quitting yet. They’re renegotiating. They’re quietly editing what they boldly declared on Jan. 1 – lowering the bar just enough to feel relief.
That’s entering the danger zone.
Here’s the truth: Every time you reopen a decision, you weaken it. Strong lives aren’t built by people who feel motivated. They’re built by people who decide once and then obey that decision daily.
Not polling emotions. Not waiting on the perfect mood. Not asking permission from fatigue.
If you made a covenant when you were clear, grounded, and hopeful … why would a tired Tuesday get a vote?
In Scripture, a covenant isn’t casual. It’s a decision made before God and honored when it gets hard. In Matthew 5:37, Jesus said, “Let your ‘Yes’ be yes, and your ‘No,’ no.” That’s not about feelings. That’s about integrity.
You don’t need a new plan. You need to honor the one you already made. Burn the exits. Remove the escape hatches. Faith doesn’t keep contingency plans for obedience. It commits and learns to stand when it’s uncomfortable.
So, this week, stop asking Do I still feel like it? Is this really necessary? Can I ease up just a little?
Start asking: What did I already decide? What does follow-through look like today? What would the disciplined, faith-filled version of me do next?
Decide once. Then live like the decision is settled.
