Mayor Sloan Stewart shared a bit of good news Tuesday night during the Metro Council Budget Committee meeting.
After hearing that capital project funds would be needed to repair or replace a failed swimming pool pump motor – a project expected to cost between $5,000 and $15,000, depending on whether the pump also needs to be replaced – Atmos Energy offered $10,000 to help cover the motor.
The offer came after Atmos was on hand at the April Metro Council meeting for final approval of its franchise agreement with Moore County. The agreement covers natural gas distribution, along with the installation and upkeep of mains, pipes, regulators, meters, and other related equipment in roads, alleys, lanes, and other public grounds.
The franchise runs for 10 years, with two possible five-year renewals unless the county gives written notice to end it.
