Jack Daniel's introduces Maple Barrel Tennessee Rye Whiskey
Distillery Series Selection #14 offers a memorable and warm experience
News Release
LYNCHBURG, Tenn. – The Jack Daniel Distillery introduces the latest selection in its Distillery Series line of experimental whiskeys, a Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in High-Toast Maple Barrels.
Distillery Series Selection #14 begins with Jack Daniel’s traditional Tennessee Rye Whiskey grain bill of 70% rye, 12% malted barley, and 18% corn. It is charcoal mellowed before entering a new, charred American white oak barrel. Once fully matured, the whiskey was entered into a second high-toast, no-char maple barrel to finish atop Tanyard Hill for three more years to achieve a complex rye whiskey with a unique, lasting flavor. Initially released in 2022 as part of the Distillery Series, this rye whiskey was finished in a high-toast maple barrel for an additional 20 months from that original release.
“Here at the Jack Daniel Distillery, we have the ability to experiment and pull different levers to innovate all along the whiskey-making process, from grains all the way to the barrel,” said Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller. “In this latest Distillery Series release, high toast maple barrels accentuate our award-winning rye whiskey while drawing out unprecedented seasonal flavors that lead to a special experience.”
The straight Tennessee Rye Whiskey has an aroma of tobacco and clove. Rich flavors of rye combine with notes of dried fruit, chocolate and caramel to build on a sweet maple finish, softening the peppery rye spice and creating the perfect sip for the season.
Selected by Whiskey Taster Clint Bailey, Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in High Toast Maple Barrels is bottled at 107 proof (53.5% abv) in 375ml bottles. It will be available exclusively at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tenn., beginning Saturday, with a suggested retail price of $43.99. There will only be approximately 3,300 bottles available, making it the most limited Distillery Series release to date.
