Whiskey fans who have long awaited the return of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Heritage Barrel will now find it on shelves year-round. The Jack Daniel Distillery announced Thursday, Aug. 21, that the expression is officially joining the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Collection as a permanent release.

The move follows the success of limited Heritage Barrel bottlings in 2018 and 2019, which earned praise for their unique flavor profile created through Jack Daniel’s distinctive barrel toasting technique.

“The way our barrels are built and our ability to experiment are two of the most important parts of the Jack Daniel’s whiskey-making tradition,” said Chris Fletcher, Master Distiller at Jack Daniel’s.

“It was exciting for us to see what our Heritage Barrels produced with previous limited releases, and we’re thrilled to bring that same unforgettable flavor to more friends with this permanent offering.”

The whiskey is crafted using the distillery’s traditional Tennessee Whiskey mash bill – 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye – and mellowed through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal. What sets Heritage Barrel apart is the preparation of its barrels: a high-toast, low-char technique inspired by early barrel-making practices, which creates a deeper toasted layer before charring. The spirit then enters the barrel at 100 proof, maturing for at least seven years in some of the distillery’s highest-elevated warehouses.

Jack Daniel’s describes the finished whiskey as offering a soft oak nose, warm notes of honey and candied fruit, and a lingering brown sugar finish.

Bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV), Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Heritage Barrel Tennessee Whiskey is now available nationwide in 750 mL bottles with a suggested retail price of $69.99. The distillery said international distribution will begin in the coming months.

Founded in 1866 and based in Lynchburg, Jack Daniel’s is the oldest registered distillery in the United States and today produces a wide portfolio, including Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey, Gentleman Jack, and Jack Daniel’s & Coca-Cola. Its products are sold in more than 170 countries worldwide.
