Moore County early turnout ranks 10th in Tennessee
A total of 1,273 ballots were cast before Election Day, up 9.4% from 2022. General Election is Thursday, Aug. 6.

Moore County will enter Election Day with one of the highest early voting rates in Tennessee.
Voters cast 1,273 ballots during the state’s 14-day early voting period, giving Moore County an estimated turnout of 22.99%. That ranked 10th among Tennessee’s 95 counties, according to the Secretary of State’s Division of Elections.
The total includes ballots cast in person, absentee ballots returned by mail, and votes collected at licensed facilities.
Moore County recorded 109 more early votes than it did in 2022, when 1,164 ballots were cast. That marked an increase of 9.36%.
The county remained below its 2018 total, however. Moore County recorded 1,411 early votes that year – 138 more than in 2026.
Only nine counties posted higher estimated turnout rates this year. Clay County led the state at 31.76%, followed by Houston, Hancock, Stewart, Scott, Decatur, Lake, Hardeman, and Haywood counties.
Statewide, 635,319 ballots were cast during early voting. That was nearly 33% more than in 2022 and about 1.3% more than in 2018.
The General Election is Thursday, Aug. 6, with nearly 23% of Moore County’s registered voters having already cast ballots.
