Raiderettes fall to Marion County, 13-0

Marion County broke the game open early and handed home-standing Moore County a 13-0 loss on Thursday.

The Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, scoring once on a groundout by Brynna Thomasson and once on a Moore County error. The visitors added two more runs in the third to push the lead to 4-0.

Marion County put the game out of reach in the fourth, scoring six runs on four hits. A Raiderette error brought home one run, Brylee Thomasson and Brynna Thomasson each added RBI singles, and Lillian Nixon capped the inning with a three-run homer to left.

Emma McCallie earned the win for Marion County, allowing two hits and no runs over three innings while walking one.

Bailey Dunn took the loss for Moore County, allowing 10 runs – all unearned – on six hits over four innings. She struck out two and walked two.

Dunn and Anna Deaton collected Moore County’s two hits, while Abby Bateman stole two bases.

Nixon drove in three runs for Marion County, and McCallie added two hits in three at-bats. Hannah Adams stole two bases as Marion County finished with five stolen bases and drew six walks.

Moore County returns home Friday to host Huntland at 6 p.m.
