Raiderettes finish district undefeated

Senior Emma Sazonov scored a season-high 20 points as Moore County finished district play undefeated with a 66-36 victory at Huntland on Friday.

Four Raiderettes scored double figures as MCHS wrapped the regular season at 23-3 overall and 6-0 in Class 1A Region 5-District 9 play.

Moore County led 14-7 after the first quarter, paced by Katy Fletcher's six points. Miss Basketball finalist Ellie Graham added five, including a 3-pointer, and Sazonov also had a trey.

In the second quarter, Moore County pushed its advantage to 36-17 behind seven points from Fletcher, including a 3-pointer. Audrey Harder, Graham, and Sazonov chipped in four points apiece, and Sharpe added a 3-pointer.

The Raiderettes continued to pad their lead in the third quarter. Sharpe had five points, including a 3-ball, and Sazonov added four and also had a 3-pointer as MCHS led 53-29 entering the fourth,

Sazonov punctuated the road win by scoring nine of the team's 13 points in the final stanza by draining a trio of 3-pointers, giving her five for the night.

Fletcher (13), Graham (13), and Sharpe (10) also scored double figures for Moore County. Audrey Harder (6), Bella Tucker (3), and Anna Harder (1) rounded out the scoring.

MCHS finished with 15 field goals, nine 3-pointers, and 9 of 18 from the free-throw line.

Next for the Raiderettes is the Region tournament Feb. 18-21 at Huntland.

The coaches will meet on Monday to determine tie-breakers. There is a three-way tie for second place between Eagleville, Fayetteville, and Huntland.
