Raiderettes sprint to 2-0 start

The Moore County Raiderettes improved to 2-0 Tuesday night with a 56-43 win over Cascade in their home opener, using a strong fourth-quarter push to secure the victory.
The Raiderettes led 11-7 after the first quarter and extended the margin to 29-18 by halftime. Cascade narrowed the gap early in the second half, but Moore County entered the fourth quarter ahead 36-26 and then sealed the game at the foul line.
Emma Dye sparked the final surge, knocking down both of her 3-pointers in the fourth quarter en route to a team-high 15 points. Ally Sharpe added 12 points, including five clutch free throws in the final period, while Ellie Carter finished with 11 points and a three-pointer.
Bella Tucker contributed 7 points, followed by Paisley Kelly with 5, and Emmeree Greenway, Harley Hart, and Lily Hoagland with 2.
The Raiderettes were nearly automatic at the stripe, converting 20 of 27 free throws.
The victory marked head coach Chad Spencer's 100th at the helm of the Moore County program.
MCHS 76, Santa Fe 17
The Raiderettes opened their basketball season in dominant fashion Monday night, rolling past Santa Fe behind a second-quarter scoring explosion led by senior guard Ally Sharpe.
Sharpe poured in a game-high 24 points, including four 3-pointers – three of them during Moore County’s blistering 31-point second quarter. The Raiderettes led 17-8 after the first period, but broke the game wide open before halftime with a 48-14 advantage. By the end of the third, the margin had stretched to 70-17, and the defense locked down completely as Santa Fe went scoreless in the final frame.
Bella Tucker added 18 points for Moore County, while Harley Hart scored 10. Ellie Carter and Emma Dye each knocked down a 3-pointer and finished with 7 and 5 points, respectively. Lily Hoagland also connected from deep, adding 3 points. Paisley Kelly (3), Emmeree Greenway (2), Abbie Bateman (2), and Brenley Tucker (2) rounded out the scoring.
