Raiders drop seesaw battle vs. Central Magnet

The Moore County High School Raiders came up just short Tuesday, Jan. 13, falling 51-50 to Murfreesboro Central Magnet in a tightly contested non-district matchup.

Moore County set the early tone, building a 13-9 lead after the first quarter behind strong defensive play. Central Magnet answered in the second period, edging ahead 24-23 by halftime. The back-and-forth battle continued after the break, with neither team able to create separation, and the game was tied at 35 entering the fourth quarter.

Colton Morey paced the Raiders with 15 points, including seven in the final quarter as Moore County pushed to regain the lead down the stretch. Anderson Sharpe added 13 points and connected on three 3-pointers, while Cooper Dickey and Tristyn Gray each chipped in eight points. Deacon Likes finished with five points, and Ryland Stovall added one.

Moore County was efficient at the free-throw line, converting 7 of 11 attempts.

Owen King led the Tigers with 16 points.

The loss drops the Raiders to 3-12 on the season. Moore County will return to action Friday at home, hosting Region 5-District 9A opponent Richland.
