Raiders fall short despite Morey’s 29

Moore County saw a competitive first half slip away Tuesday night, falling 67-51 to Community to drop to 2-10 on the season.

The Raiders set the tone early behind a hot start from Colton Morey, who scored 12 of his game-high 29 points in the first quarter. Moore County carried a 15-12 advantage after one and continued to trade baskets throughout the second period, with the teams deadlocked at 26 at halftime.

Community began to gain separation in the third quarter, outscoring the Raiders to build a 48-40 lead entering the final frame. Moore County struggled to close the gap in the fourth as the visitors controlled the tempo down the stretch.

Morey finished with 29 points, including four 3-pointers, and accounted for all of Moore County’s free throws, going 3-for-6 at the line.

Anderson Sharpe added 10 points, while Cooper Dickey scored five points with a 3-pointer. Avery Rogers chipped in three points, also from beyond the arc, and Braylynn Hill and Tristyn Gray added two points apiece.

Charlie Haskins paced Community with 20 points, and Jaxon Williams followed closely with 19.

The Raiders will look to rebound Friday when they travel to Fayetteville.
