Raiders falter during fourth in setback to Richland

The Moore County Raiders stayed within striking distance throughout but could not overcome a late push by Richland in a 50-42 loss Friday, Jan. 16.
After trailing 15-9 at the end of the first quarter, the Raiders responded with a strong second period, rallying to tie the game at 24-24 by halftime. The back-and-forth contest continued through the third quarter, with both teams deadlocked at 33 entering the final eight minutes.

Richland pulled away in the fourth quarter behind a strong scoring effort from Kade McCormack, who finished with a game-high 20 points. Jameson Andrews added 14 points for the Raiders, helping Richland create separation late.
Moore County was led by Colton Morey, who scored 16 points, including two 3-pointers, and was perfect from the free-throw line, going 4-for-4.
Cooper Dickey added 10 points, knocking down two 3-pointers and converting both of his free-throw attempts. Tristyn Gray contributed seven points and went 5-for-6 at the line.
Deacon Liles scored four points for the Raiders, while Braylynn Hill added two. Anderson Sharpe chipped in with a second-quarter 3-pointer that helped spark the Raiders’ comeback before the break.
Despite the loss, Moore County was efficient at the free-throw line, converting 13 of 14 attempts.
With the setback, the Raiders fell to 3-13 overall and 1-1 in District 9A play.
Moore County returns to the hardwood Tuesday with a district tilt at Cornersville.
