Embrace Radical Ownership
#MindsetMonday 12:12 p.m. July 28, 2025

There comes a moment in every life – a line in the sand – where we must decide: Am I going to keep explaining away why I’m stuck ... or am I finally going to take ownership?
Let’s be honest – ownership is hard. It’s heavy! It means looking in the mirror when it would be easier to point fingers. It means trading comfort for clarity. It means admitting, “I might not have caused this storm ... but it’s still my life to rebuild.”
Excuses feel safer. They let us stay small. They let us nurse our wounds. They let us pretend we’re powerless – because power comes with real pressure.
But I want to challenge you to stop hiding behind what hurt you – and start building with what’s already within you.
Because here’s the truth that no one wants to say out loud: You cannot live a powerful, purpose-driven life while giving away your power.
You can’t blame your way into joy. You can’t shame your way into growth. You can’t “sympathy-seek” your way into prosperity. You can’t build a legacy on finger-pointing and self-pity. You’ll never be truly happy or fulfilled if excuses are part of your story.
Let’s normalize Radical Ownership! Radical ownership is our revolution. It’s standing tall, not because everything is perfect, but because you’ve decided to stop waiting for someone else to save you. It sounds like this: “This is mine. I didn’t ask for all of it, but I’m responsible for what I do with it now.”
This isn’t about shame. It’s not about pretending we control everything. It’s about stepping through the one door no one else can open for you: The door of responsibility.
Visualize this decision as if it were physical: Your life changes as soon as you step through the door of responsibility.
Let’s keep this top of mind: Ownership without compassion is just ugliness in disguise. We’ve all missed the mark. We’ve all made excuses when we were scared, or broken, or tired. We’ve all let someone down – we’ve all let ourselves down. So yes, let go of the excuses.
But don’t drop grace. Give grace freely – to others and to yourself. But don’t let it become a hiding place. Don’t let it be a pathway to passivity. Let it be the name on the front of your jersey.
This is the posture: Strength and softness. Fire and forgiveness. Discipline and devotion. It’s a mindset that whispers, “I may not be able to change what happened, but I will be known for how I rise from it.”
And when you weave faith into this – well, now we’re really going somewhere. God doesn’t ask for perfection – just pursuit. He doesn’t demand we get it all right – He just asks that we don’t give up. He’s not afraid to pull away your comfort – if it helps uncover your calling.
So let me ask you: What’s the excuse you’ve been holding onto like a comfortable blanket? The one that says, “It’s not my fault.” “It’s too late.” “I’ll never be enough.”
Now picture yourself setting that down and picking up the mirror instead. Ask yourself: Where am I giving away my power? What truth am I avoiding? What am I pretending not to know? What would happen if I stopped waiting ... and started becoming?
You must trust me here: This is where the breakthrough begins! No more blame. No more waiting. No more shrinking. Just radical ownership! Laced with love. Fueled by faith. Grounded in grace. Forged through fire. Rooted in responsibility.
