Morey paces Raiders in loss to Community

The Moore County Raiders ran into a hot-shooting Community squad on Friday night, falling 80-42 on the road and slipping to 0-3 to open the season.
Despite flashes of rhythm on offense, the Raiders couldn’t keep pace with the Vikings’ relentless scoring and balanced attack.
MCHS trailed 26-18 after the first quarter, 50-30 at halftime, and 65-40 after three.
Colton Morey once again shouldered the scoring load, dropping 16 points, including two 3-pointers, as he tried to spark the Raiders through multiple Community runs.
Tristyn Gray chipped in 6, while Deacon Liles added 5 points, as did Anderson Sharpe, who also drained a 3, giving Moore County pockets of offense in an otherwise uphill battle.
From deep, however, the Raiders struggled to gain traction. Moore County connected on just 4 of 20 from beyond the arc, a cold spell that Community took full advantage of. Inside the arc, the Raiders found better success, shooting 13 of 19, but the long-range drought made it tough to gain momentum.
Other scorers included Cooper Dickey with 3 points (including a trey), 2-point efforts from Braylynn Hill, Avery Rogers, and Ryland Stovall, and 1 point from Drew Hardison.
At the free-throw line, Moore County finished 4 of 8.
The Vikings featured four players in double figures – Jonathan Lawwell with 19 points, Charlie Haskins with 16, and Andrew Tocchio and Joshua Powers with 11 each.
Next up for MCHS is a matchup at Cannon County on Monday, Dec. 8.
