Raiderettes bounce back against Culleoka
Despite senior Ellie Graham being sidelined in the first quarter and senior Madison Dingler in street clothes with a knee brace on Tuesday, the Moore County Raiderettes still proved too much for visiting Culleoka in a 68-37 victory.
Graham tweaked her ankle minutes into the game and was held out for precautionary reasons. MCHS (7-1) travels to Gatlinburg on Wednesday and opens play in the Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic at 8:30 p.m. ET Thursday against Ridgeview (Va.).
Bouncing back one night after their first loss, the Raiderettes led 19-4 after the first quarter and had a 40-17 advantage at halftime. MCHS led 53-31 entering the fourth quarter.
Katy Fletcher scored a season-high 19 points and was the only Raiderette in double figures. The remaining 49 points were spread among 12 players: Ally Sharpe (9), Anna Harder (7), Hannah Martin (6), Bella Tucker (6), Emma Sazonov (4), Emma Dye (3), Audrey Harder (3), Harley Hart (3), Ella Burks (2), Ellie Carter (2), Makenzie Goodwin (2), and Lily Hoagland (2).
It was the second win against Culleoko in a week; MCHS won 75-29 on Dec. 10.
Culleoka 59, Raiders 55
Peyton Martin (18), Brantley Hill (13), and Gavin Wise (11) scored double digits in the Raiders' loss.
Moore County trailed 12-10 after the opening stanza and 29-26 at the break. The Warriors held a one-point advantage, 41-40, entering the fourth quarter.
Jay Sparkman (5), Colton Morey (3), Tucker Smith (3), and Cooper Dickey (2) also scored for MCHS (0-9).
