Raiderettes can't fend off Cornersville on Senior Night

The Moore County Raiderettes saw a strong start slip away Friday night, falling 41-37 to Cornersville on Senior Night in a District 9A matchup.
Moore County (14-9 overall, 3-4 district) controlled the early pace, building a 12-5 lead after the first quarter behind seven quick points from Abbie Bateman, including a 3-pointer.

The Raiderettes carried that momentum into halftime, stretching the advantage to 21-12.
Cornersville gradually chipped away in the second half, trimming the deficit to 33-28 by the end of the third quarter before taking control in the final stanza.
Moore County managed just four fourth-quarter points – both baskets from Ally Sharpe – while Cornersville’s Camile Franklin scored six of her game-high 15 points down the stretch to seal the comeback.
Sharpe and Bateman led the Raiderettes with nine points each. Ellie Carter added eight points, including seven after halftime and a key third-quarter 3-pointer.
Emma Dye finished with five points, Bella Tucker scored four while going 2-for-2 at the free-throw line, and Paisley Kelly contributed two points.
Moore County went 4-for-8 from the foul line in the loss.
Sharpe was honored before the game with a commemorative ball to celebrate 2,000 career points. She now stands at 2,011 points.
It was the final regular-season home game for Makenzie Goodwin, Sharpe, and Tucker.
The Raiderettes will look to rebound Tuesday when they travel to Huntland for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
