Raiderettes season end in District

On Wednesday, Moore County lost, 2-1, to Huntland in eight innings in the District 9A Softball Tournament. The loss ended the Raiderettes' season.

MCHS took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth. Whitney Fanning led off with a single and moved to second on a bunt by Savannah Rose. Two batters later, Fanning stole home.

Huntland tied the score in the bottom of the fourth, and the teams remained knotted until the eighth. Kinah Mason singled with one out to plate Catara Johnson with the game-winning run.

Fanning was 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and one stolen base. Kallie Ross and Jenny Sanders had the only other hits for the Raiderettes.

Ross pitched 7 1/3 innings and gave up two runs on six hits while walking three. She hit two batters and struck out one.

Mason picked up the complete-game win, scattering three hits and three walks across eight frames. She struck out nine.
