Raiders complete season sweep of Huntland

Moore County closed out a regular-season sweep of Huntland on Tuesday night, using a fast start and balanced scoring to secure a 54-47 district victory.

The Raiders improved to 6-18 overall and evened their district mark at 4-4 behind a game-high 20 points from Anderson Sharpe, who knocked down three 3-pointers.

Raiderettes’ second-half surge thwarts Huntland

Avery Rogers added 11 points with two treys, while Tristyn Gray scored eight – all in the second half. Deacon Liles and Colton Morey chipped in seven points apiece, with five of Morey’s coming in the fourth quarter, and Tucker Smith finished with one point.

Grant Jernigan paced Huntland with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. He buried two fourth-quarter treys as the Hornets attempted a late rally.

Moore County surged ahead early, building a 19-6 lead after the first quarter as Rogers poured in nine points – highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers and three made free throws – and Sharpe added eight points with two treys of his own.

Huntland responded in the second quarter, closing the gap to tie the game at 23 by halftime. The Raiders regrouped after the break, taking a 36-31 advantage into the fourth quarter behind five points from Sharpe and four from Gray in the third.

Moore County held off the Hornets down the stretch despite finishing 11-for-24 at the free-throw line.

The Raiders will wrap up the regular season on Friday at Franklin County.
